Agatha Christie

As a fan of Agatha Christie, I really enjoy the radio play versions of her stories. Not surprisingly almost all of the stories are from either the Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple series.

The beginning

I like radio plays. These were popular in the 1940s and 50s but have continued on to today particularly by BBC radio, and there has been some revived in the U.S. Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie under the Alien Voices banner did productions of The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle, The First Men in the Moon by H.G. Wells, and Journey To The Center Of The Earth by Jules Verne.

These plays could be classic or modern plays adapted to radio or adaptations of novels. They could be science fiction, westerns, or contemporary topics. Many were adaptations of popular fiction. The BBC did adaptions of many writers of mystery and adventure novels: Agatha Christie, PD James, Dorothy Sayers, Ian Fleming, Nevil Shute, etc. Lux Radio Theatre did hundreds of radio adaptations of then current popular movies.

Fortunately many of these are available for free from that great site, Archive.org. If you use them a lot, consider donating to the site.
